Some people always say we shouldn’t care about the number of comments/faves/upvotes,and I can understand their point. It isn’t like we only write for receiving them, and being an author myself,I would never force my readers to give me feedback. I still update stories without getting much feedback because I know some do enjoy them. The thing is, I sometimes wish my readers would at least give a small comment for a new chapter, saying “Thank you” and if they liked it or not. I would appreciate it.

I am also one of those people who refused to update until i get a specific amount of comment. The difference being i do not tell my readers, and instead i kept the new story comment alert around by never clicking it to see the comment itself. It’s not that i am selfish, but i do want actual feedback on my story. And before any pretentious assholes say anything, i do write for myself but i also wanted others to read it. What is the use of continuing that story if no one is interested?

I don’t think readers who don’t sub or comment are ungrateful, if it’s a oneshot or if you read the first few chapters and it wasn’t your thing. I do, however, feel like it’s ungrateful to follow a multichaptered story all the way to the end, enjoy it, but NEVER sub or comment. Throw the author a bone! She’s worked hard on that, and if you liked it, think of her as a street performer and toss her some “coins”.

I’ve unfriended people who are subbed to my stories and have recommendation shops but haven’t recommended me. Yeah, probably petty - I don’t care. Why sub to every single of my stories, have a shop, and fail to mention even a single one of my fics?

Honestly speaking, I’ve never clicked or read the featured stories on AFF. Not even the ‘supposedly’ good ones. Am I the only one?

Call me cynical, but I have the feeling some of the confessions here that had usernames in them, whether it was a good or bad confession, is actually written by the person themselves and not some admirer/hater.

In regards to k————s the reason people ignore the fact that she copies other peoples works is her followers that defend her. Also that she “credits” the books which “inspire” her. I’ve read the books and they’re practically the same as her “work”.

I feel really put out about readers who complain about the Sub only thing, I mean can they listen to themselves? We should subscribe if we want to and unsubscribe if we don’t like the story, I don’t like feeling forced. If you want to read the story and like it, you’ll subscribe and stay subscribed. If you want to read it but don’t like it just unsubscribe. No ones holding anything against you, just leave quietly instead of mouthing off.

I think with the whole Sub-Only confessions, it gets to the point of annoying when you come across too many badly written fics that you have to sub first and then back out of when it’s just awful. Let’s be honest here, it’s 80% all badly written on that site

I put my stories to Subscribers-Only because I want to know who is reading. When I began writing, my story was open and I had 60+ subscribers. I was happy because I thought it was a huge number. I switched the story to “Subscribers-Only” to try out the feature before I updated Ch 20. I was shocked when the number of subscribers jumped to 300+ within a day. That’s how many silent lurkers I had for that story. It was creepy! From then on, I prefer to know who is silently reading my stories.

I do read fanfics on aff but most of the time, I prefer reading author’s personal blogs instead. Seeing how they’re dealing with their personal life, rant and etc, it’s interesting to read haha

What’s so hard about reading & following the rules stated in every graphic shop on aff? If you think tons of rules are annoying then don’t bother to even request for a poster. Design it your own.
